    The 3 mile hike-in to the trail camp located at approximately 2,600 feet was a bit steep, especially with a pack anticipating a 3-day stay but you are rewarded with great view of Los Angeles, the ocean and even Catalina Island. You can stay for free, up to 7 days and with access to free firewood thanks to the firefighters that continually ensure the camp has wood. They currently have no potable water but from the looks of my last trip here, I believe they may be working on a solution for that. Tons of deer! Great place to backpack close to home. And if you are looking for an even bigger challenge, make your way to the peak of Mt. Wilson for breathtaking views
